You don’t have to be in a Theatre class to ​participate:

  • Actors, Singers, Dancers audition
  • Technicians (Directors, Choreographers,
  • Run Crew, Lights, Sound, Stage Managers)
  • interview for positions
  • Be sure to pick up an audition/interview ​packet which are available in the Grove ​Black Box (Room 802) on on the school web

Students who have earned at least 10 ITS ​points may pledge to join Woodgrove High ​School’s International Thespians Honor ​Society (Troupe 7747). The one time ​membership fee is $35. Students interested in ​joining this honor society are required to:


Join the International ​Thespian Honors Society at ​WHS known as Troupe 7747



  • Earn at least 10 points theatre community work ​either on or behind the stage at WHS HMS, or a ​Community Theatre.

(Of the 10 points, at least 5 must be with Grove Theatre).


  • Attend a minimum of 10 meetings throughout ​the school year


  • Pay their membership fee of $35 by February 1.


  • Take the troupe pledge


If a Senior would like to purchase the Gold & Blue

Chord and Stole (Officers ONLY) for Graduation,

the cost is $10 (Chord only) or $30 for the stole &

cords (due around May 1st)

VHSL Competitions

Selected Grove theatre students compete in the Virginia High​ School Theatre League representing Woodgrove High School for​ Theatre in the One Act Competition. Students in the theatre​ classes are offered this opportunity first and if any additional​ students are needed, they are auditioned in for opportunities.​ This year we 4-C with District Competition on Nov. 9, 2024 &​ Regional (at WHS) on Nov.23, 2024​

Blue Ridge Cappies

Students critiquing students in a selected play or musical. ​Cappies started back in the 1990's and this tradition continues ​on in the newly formed (2022) Blue Ridge Cappies. Save the date ​of May 28, 2025 for the Gala.


Open Mic Opportunities throughout the school ​year!

Run by the ITS students, and supervised by Mrs. Pruzina, Open Mics are a ​quarterly performance opportunity for all of WHS! Sing, Tell a Story, Play an ​Instrument or any other performance appropriate for a High School Black Box ​audience! Cover charge is $5 and all funds go to the theatre scholarship fund!
